The Whitby Lawn Bowling Club (established 1927) has been an integral part of the Town of Whitby for many years, and has the unique distinction of being one of Whitby's oldest sports organizations.  We are located in downtown Whitby at 833 Brock Street, South.

There is bowling during the day and evening, along with a schedule of tournaments and social events throughout the season.  If you are a new bowler, we provide club bowls and coaching at no cost.

Lawn Bowls is an accessible, fun and competitive sport that contributes to a strengthened social network and an overall sense of well being within a community.

Our 98th year

ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION CAPITAL GRANT

2022

On Friday, November 25th, 2022 The Whitby Lawn Bowling Club hosted an Ontario Trillium Foundation recognition event at The Whitby 55+ Community Centre.

The Whitby Lawn Bowling Club received a $17,200.00 Grant last spring, which was used to purchase a badly needed new lawn mower for the club. Our 25-year-old lawn mower was in constant need of expensive repairs.  Since the green needs special height cutting a minimum of 3 times a week, the old lawn mower often left ridges of grass on the green.

As the green is the most important part of the Lawn Bowling Club a new lawn mower was really needed.

Several members of the club were present to help celebrate the recognition ceremony. Emceed by Peter Robb, the longest-standing member of the Club for almost 40 years.  Peter introduced one of our long-time supporters Lorne Coe MPP for The Whitby area. Mr. Coe spoke a few words of congratulations and then Helen Ecker was introduced as a volunteer from The Ontario Trillium Grant Committee.  Beth Paddick President and Grant Chair closed the recognition ceremony with a few words of thanks.

2018

Whitby Lawn Bowling Club received a Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2018 in the amount of $110,000.  This grant was used to replace our concrete walkways and install new back boards.  Repairs took many months and were completed October 2018.

We celebrated these upgrades during the Club’s  Gala Day in June 2019.  In attendance were MPP Lorne Coe, Philip Frances (Vice President of Ontario Lawn Bowling Association) and Joan Young (Ontario Trillium Foundation).
